King of Kings! Calvary Chapel - Ft. Lauderdale, FL

I have to share this. For almost 18 years I have searched off and on for my all time favorite song. Someone gave me a cassette tape back in 1996 (2 years before my mother's passing). On this tape existed the song you are about to hear. I had lost the tape, and the words had worn off the cassette. I finally found the tape this weekend and was able to play it and use an app to find out who sang it and now I get to share it and listen to it over and over again! While the words are simple and the artists repeat them over and over, it tells the greatest story ever told. It also tells my own story by the increased accompaniment and sheer power that goes into the chorus as the song continues. The words start out speaking about Jesus, and as the song continues the music grows as do the voices and in the middle of singing about Him, a change takes place and the words begin to speak to Him! Its really a testimony of sorts. It seemed all my life I heard about Him, read about Him, sang about Him - but it wasn't until I actually came into an encounter with Him, that I desired to speak to Him, to know it was real and possible, to praise Him! My friend Evan Sieling just posted a short but brief teaching about this last night from Theology and Doxology. As my knowledge grew of Him, I was compelled, lead to Him, to speak to Him and to praise Him. This song is the epitome of that journey, it has to be (in my opinion) the most beautiful song I most likely will ever here - and completely summarizes what the deepest part of my heart longs to do 24/7. Take a listen. It can be downloaded from iTunes and is performed by Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Closet Christian

Gosh, I never knew cleaning out boxes and drawers could be so emotional, in a good way. Finding old love letters, sent and received, sweet notes and letters from mom, letters from my brother, my dad... poems, notes from various topics I have studied over the years... I have cried and I have laughed... but the last thought or feeling was laughter... I came across so much biblical study "stuff"... and I realized the time in my life that much of this stuff was studied or written... I laughed because I was a "closet" Christian... a good chunk of my 'living' was not in any way the way God would have liked, but He had it all planned out...and when I wasn't distracted by the world, my troubles or out partying... I would still seek Him, hypocritical as it seemed, He always was drawing me near. I couldn't escape Him, or His great love....He formed a foundation when the world wasn't aware, and when my world came crashing down, (as it did many times) I always landed on that foundation - and He's been building a house on it all this time!
Lord ... I'm cleaning out old stuff and came across this letter. I'm snot nosed about now... A letter from a dying mother to her son. I'm sharing it because I know someone will read it and find forgiveness in their heart for another, you might hug someone tighter or stay awhile longer and maybe you'll love a little deeper. She was right I am okay some 16 years later and God has been with me all this time! Thank you Mom for loving me like you did.

John MacArthur - Is Speaking in Tongues Demonic? 1/3

Very good teaching regarding this topic.  Many believe there is a "secret" prayer language that consists of speaking in gibberish so that the Spirit of God can intercede for us when we know not what to pray.  This is not biblical.  God would not have us nor does He need for us to make gibberish/babbling sounds in order to speak to the Father on our behalf.  I highly recommend listening to this teaching if you are confused about this topic - this is so rampant within the "church" and it is not biblical.

It's Your Love

Its Your Love

Its your love that conceived me, formed and made me!

Its your love that keeps me, breaks me and sets me free!

Its your love that astounds me and surrounds me, consumes and overflows me!

Its your love!

I am so amazed by your great and mighty love!

I am moved by your mercy and grace, your loving kindness!

No one can love me like you do, no one can love me like you do, no one!!!

From the highest mountain to the lowest valley, its your love that finds me!

From the deepest ocean to the farthest star, its your love that rescues me! Is it you, it is you!

You are this great and unending love!

Your love knows no bounds, your mercies are new every moment, you sing over me, you delight over me and love me! You love me!

High and exalted, magnificent and mighty redeemer, you are!

How great is your name, how high is your reign, how deep is your love and how beautiful you are! Almighty One, who is above all others and above all others, worthy to be praised!

The Great I am, King of Kings, my precious savior and wonderful counselor, friend, and lover of my soul… It is You, It is You!!!!

"Humility is perfect quietness of heart. It is to expect nothing, to wonder at nothing that is done to me, to feel nothing done against me. It is to be at rest when nobody praises me, and when I am blamed or despised. It is to have a blessed home in the Lord, where I can go in and shut the door, and kneel to my Father in secret, and am at peace as in a deep sea of calmness, when all around and above is trouble." - Andrew Murray

Kari Jobe Bethel Church Music- Forever Live (lyrics)

Such a powerful song. I especially shared it with a friend, with this message, but its for everyone: He loves you so deeply, so completely - His heart is on fire for each and everyone of us, no matter who you are, where we are, where we've been or how we got there... He absolutely adores us, He adores us!!!!!! He wants so much, so very much to be intimate with us, to be in each other's presence. To just sit with us a while, to be transformed and loved, and loved ...and loved..and loved over and over again! I really can hardly wait to see Him face to face. This Man who died for me, who has literally carried me for so long and for so far. The One who was made flesh for my sake, and knows me like no other, yet whose love is without waiver. He leaves me speechless when I recount His mercy and grace, His majesty and justice. He indeed is worthy of all my praise!

The Greek Word 'Glossa'

The Greek Word "Glossa"

Recently I've been compelled to speak out about a topic thats very near and dear to some Christians.  Its something that many have taught in the church as well as being a sign that one has been baptized "in the spirit".  Some even have said its a sign of salvation.

Like many I also was taught this was a sign of being baptized in the Holy Spirit and is considered one of the "gifts of the Holy Spirit".  I have been in services where this particular topic is "taught" and congregation members are told to have faith and to let the Holy Spirit give utterance and just open your mouth and let the sound out.  This is all done many times by demonstrating to others what "it sounds like" .

For years I have never felt what I have heard in Church past and present, is "of God" or His spirit.

If we test things test the spirits against the Word of God then we must approach this topic with a resolve, that the Word of God is and will be the authority on this matter.

I am not going to provide an exhaustive study on this topic but I do want to share what I have learned and what I am seeing over and over, yet so many people are holding so tightly to this practice.  They refuse to examine the Word of God in context and take the time to research or even pray to God about it.  The few times I have presented what I see clearly in God's word, I get an outright refusal to accept it or see it, or I am immediately persecuted by people who call themselves Christian.  It convinces me more.

The first thing I looked at was the very word 'Tongue' and its original intended definition.  The tongue is used to make speech, to communicate and to speak in tongues would seem to say or convey the same intent, to communicate.  The original greek word that was translated into tongue in most versions of the scripture we see today, is the word glossa and means languages, not a mix match of sounds.

Just by this simple revelation of the word glossa, which means languages and the context in which the word and discussion of tongues takes is very important .  What took place at Pentecost in the upper room, according to scripture and an understanding of this word, was not I repeat was not a bunch of people speaking gibberish.

Acts 2:4-7 NIV  4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God–fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language? 9 Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”

The scripture clearly shows there are Jews from all over the land, all with different "tongues"... so when they spoke, everyone else heard them speak their own native language - its plain as day.

So we can clearly establish that the sound coming out of their mouths was being heard as the sound of a known language.

The whole purpose of this gift was to further the kingdom of God by sharing the gospel to break down the language barrier and it was a sign for the unbelievers.  But it did not involve unintelligble gibberish privately interpretated.

I will interject here that many people consider speaking in tongues a special prayer language that only God understands and somehow correlate Romans 8:26 as biblical support of that notion.  Lets see what it says:  Romans 8:26
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

What this says, is that in our weakness the Spirit helps us, because at times we know not what we ought to pray.  But the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  Lets repeat  - but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans words cannot express.

That scripture does not say WE with our human mouths utter groans, or words we cant understand. It doesn't say the Spirit through us, our mouths and our voices, himself.... It says the Spirit intercedes with groans that words cannot express not groans or gibberish that we cannot understand.... or that can be translated into something understandable... This passage has absolutely nothing to do with the gift of tongues that we read about in Acts.  If it were so then the requirement of tongues having a translation has been made null and void.  Because there is always a translation or should be right?  And if we are going to have a translation then why speak it in a different language to begin with?  Makes no sense.

Okay thats the first part -I will continue with it but I honestly want people to take a second look a closer look and really search the scriptures and pay close attention to what they really say not what you have heard in church all your life, no matter who you heard it from.

Love Letters

I am reliving some things from my past lately - realizing that God truly meets us right where we are, whenever we are truly searching for love, unconditional love. For most of my life I 'cast my pearls before swine'...and they were devoured, used against me, perverted and I was left empty. But He reminds me He was always there and as I go back (cleaning out emails)... He is taking those "pearls" and applying them to Himself, to the relationship He always wanted and desires. So I am gonna share in part the love I have in my heart, that while it was directed toward another, always belonged to Him. This analogy unveils for me at least, the increasing persecution followers of Christ might experience. And in contrast the lies we have so easily been deceived by... but as His word declares, Joy comes in the morning! One day, this love, this great and glorious love will be complete, we will be complete!

"Imagine you're an artist.. one who has a deep and driving passion to paint.. but you live in a place where it isn't allowed or perhaps in and day out you are refreshed with the thought of painting, the preparation of it, going through your mind how the brush might feel in your hands and how the light may develop as you form the landscape on a canvas.. Every intricate detail .. the process from start to finish, and the satisfied feeling you get when the painting is complete... you play it over and over in your mind... providing some hope, comfort... and then one day comes and you find yourself standing out in a meadow .. mid afternoon.. and you find yourself awake in the middle of the dream.. free to paint, free to feel the brushes in your hand... for just a become what you feel you were created to be and do.

You connect with purpose and a short dance develops, and the silent but beautiful music is allowed to escape and fill the atmosphere for a brief period. One by one the instruments begin to play.. a whole orchestra becomes engaged and harmony is reborn... Its heaven. All the lines of energy that build momentum and the paths they travel, meet, intersecting all at once...its beautiful. Breathtaking.... It reminds me of that movie Powder... when he was running and running faster and faster across the field.....and with the help of a single electrical charge, he became light and was free.......that’s how it is... you know? When I am with you, heaven..

When Saying You're Sorry is Sincere

Saying you're sorry or apologizing doesn't always mean you were wrong or admitting guilt but it does mean you want to pursue peace and reconciliation if you're sincere. I have often times had to admit my guilt and wrongdoing, but I have learned that sometimes the bigger challenge is relinquishing pride even my ego in taking the first step to say "I am sorry"... its the first step in saying "here is the open door, let us reason together, forgive each other for our shortcomings, our not meeting each other's expectations"... its the bridge to reconciliation no matter who is at fault, its the love that covers a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 "Above all, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sins."

When the hand writing is on the wall for a nation

Timely all the time. A suffering people or person is more likely to be in tune to God's voice than those who aren't. If you're not convicted after Sunday morning service something ain't right or you are (right) and shouldn't be in "church" but out in the "world" sharing the good news.

The Cheerleader Such an inspiring story, certainly an uncommon faith! The Cheerleader

Sacred Geometry of Sound and Vibration

While I don't subscribe to everything in this article because i know all to well how the enemy corrupts and twists the truth...a little leaven... The reality of God becomes so evident so obvious and so in your face when your eyes open after years of studying and searching... This science of harmonics is like spinach to popeye.. Supercharges my faith. Literally the breath of God becomes visible and you can actually see how He spoke everything into being and you see eternity because every time another human is born another tree sprouts or another season comes and goes you see, hear, feel and experience God. We quite literally are His breath, His song!!! Sacred Geometry of Sound and Vibration

SoulPancake Presents: Dream Tree

Herbie Hancock - Don't give up (feat. P!nk and John Legend)

Awesome version by Pink and John Legend.

So I am writing a book....

Its been in my heart and on my mind for years.  The time is right and I am committed.  Where it goes who knows, how long it takes, who knows... but its something I must do, I am compelled to do.  I am so honored and privileged, humbled and excited to be able to tell the story of how God has set me free and continues to this day.  When you fall in love with Him, even just a little, you are compelled to express it in any way you can.  And what greater honor is there, what greater joy is there than to express your love for another through a song, a book, a musical piece, a painting.  Some of the greatest accomplishments made by man were driven through a compelling desire to express love.

We have so many ways to do just that.  Mine will be writing.  It is my great hope that He will be glorified and honored through the pages that contain the story He has written upon my heart.

An excerpt:  (I had just finished attending a sermon and had been noticing how the people danced with joy and had come home.  I was laying in bed contemplating...)  “God if you are really who I hear people say you are and what I have read in the bible, then I can talk to you directly and you want to hear from me.”  I thought about that again a few times and then I decided, I will just ask you what I want to know.  I can do that.  So I did.  I had faith and really didn’t give it much more thought and I said:  “God what did those people have that I don’t, where do they get all that joy and excitement from?”  And I tell you the truth – just as my momma told me when I was a kid, Who God was and is…  I heard His voice as clear as a bell in my thick noggin and this is what He said:  “Tim you were focused on their method rather than their source”…. WOOOHOOOOOOO!  WOW…  I was shocked, I was silent, I was in awe of what I just heard, not only because He answered, but the pure and simple truth of His answer.   An answer that has shaped my journey from that point forward.  A truth I will always try to live by because it makes all the difference, ALL the difference!  You see that night I was more focused on the way people were dancing, and the methods they were using. I was focused on the words they were saying, and how they held up their hands.  I gave no thought to why they were doing what they were.  But when God answered me, in that moment, in that split second He became alive and real to me. All the stories I had ever heard, all the prayers that were ever prayed, all the times I wondered who He was – in that instant, in that quiet moment – He was made alive and real and will be in my heart forever more!  He is real, He is real!  I kept thinking… You are real!  You heard me and answered!  I was not even in despair, I was not begging you for something, I simply just had a question and I never for a moment thought you’d answer, and never could have imagined the impact that simple answer would have on my life.  His answer has been saving me moment by moment, hour by hour ever since.  Because it was His answer that pointed me back to Him, it was His answer that shown a light down a dark, pot holed, crappy road that I needed to get off of!  His answer was Himself, the One who was, who is and is to come!

Catching Up...

Its been a busy several weeks, months... and while I am pretty good at posting on facebook...because its easier..  I wanted to share whats been on my heart a little.   So here are some recent posts.

I think I've reached a conclusion... If we have to add any kind of adjective to love... Perhaps it really isn't love at all. But that is the challenge I think we live with... To have a love for each other that isn't filtered, doesn't need improvement, that is constant and enough. Until we meet the One who is love... We will have to keep adding to ours because only His is complete, eternal and in fact enough. Thankful! This Is Amazing Grace!!! To be alive to breathe to know You are with me today.. Having brought me from death to life out of the darkness and into the light! Amazing!

When I'm going through life; reading a book, watching a movie, over hear a conversation or I dream- I hear God speak through the voice of others, words light up on a page, or a beacon shines upon a certain scene in a dream. As I watched The Great Gatsby tonight it was no different. When Nick was retelling the story of Gatsby and recounting his thought just before he kissed Daisy for the first time: "He knew that if he kissed this girl his mind would never again be free to romp like... the mind of God... That falling in love would change his destiny... forever." What I heard was " falling in love would change his destiny...forever". This is a truth God wants us to know about Him. When we fall in love with Him our destiny is changed forever. He always has something to say and share with us and His spirit within us will always bear witness to truth, because He is the way the truth and the life. His Word is alive and not just found or bound within the pages of a book, it is all around and within us. He is all around us. And the Word or Logos which is correctly translated as the Voice of God, will always bear witness of itself and confirm what is true.

Luke 15:31-32 - “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” And to think there is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents... This is the love of God.. And the love we should have for one another...that they no longer are in darkness but light no longer dead but alive and have come to desire repentance that they would not only have life but have it more abundantly through Christ!

So awesome! Give God a chance it's His love that transforms us not His law. But it's His law we learn to love when we love Him and we can never know Him much more love Him, without a relationship. Did your parents a friend or relative grandpa or grandma ever tell you not to do something or discourage you from certain things? And now being older and wiser know it's because they wanted the best for you? Because they loved you? It's the same with God. We may not understand or even agree with God or His commandments but when we get to know Him we do. It's because He loves more than any human can, more than we can comprehend. Give Him a chance to prove it to you.  When Two Lesbians Walk Into a Church Seeking Trouble

When we truly believe, even know, that "my help comes from The Lord", what the world and everyone in it fails to deliver, won't matter. It provides the perfect bridge to forgiveness when others don't meet our expectations. It dilutes the sting of disappointment and allows us the opportunity to truly become all we are called to be and do. Ultimately, it allows us to love with no condition or prerequisites.
