The Vintage Truth

As the drive would have it... today just to the post office for work and back. I saw a certain store downtown that had "Vintage" in its name. He caused me to ponder on that word "Vintage" - its relative to a time and place, most often of long ago, sometimes akin to a specific year of wine, but mostly associated with something authentic to a particular period. The reality of what was in the store, was most likely something that resembled a "vintage" piece of furniture, painting, trinket or treasure. The look, the feel, the flavor ... but in reality..something new made to look old.

Thats sorta what the world is today, thats how we perceive and want truth delivered to us. The flavor of, the scent, the idea. But never the full unadulterated, truth. Its to much for us, we don't have the strength to carry its weight and we prefer the look a-like, we can't afford the real thing or so we think (He already paid the price and gave Himself) much more comprehend it. Its to powerful, and bitter even. The world and most in it can't handle the truth, because we live in a lie most days, going to and fro, telling each other or listening to something akin to the truth, but polluted with a lie, with a little leaven and most days we don't even know it.

We have passed down this "flavor" generation after generation, never coming to the full knowledge and experience of it all. We will always be subject to a lie if we never seek the truth. The truth ironically, is "vintage".... but as real and true today as it was 2000 years ago.

But its been mixed with so many flavors, only the one who has been taught by Him will ever come to find it, He is the way the truth and the life. We love the flavor, the scent, the idea - but never want the whole truth, its to much for us.

Its to uncomfortable, it upsets our man made ideals and doctrines, it sets us apart and divides. It makes us an outcast in a world full of inclusiveness, acceptance and tolerance, but mostly willful ignorance.
And He reminds me again:
Luke 12:51 "Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth, no I tell you, rather division.

Matthew 10:34 "Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword." and the sword is the sword of His Spirit, the Word of God.

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Its the Truth that sets us free, not the flavor, the scent, the idea...

John 8:31-32 So He said to the Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, you are truly My disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Jesus Culture - Love Has A Name (Live) ft. Kim Walker-Smith

I have been listening to this song over and over and over tonight.  Each time I listen, a deeper revelation and longing seems to come..

"We will fix our eyes on the One who overcame, we will stand in awe at the One who breaks the chains!!!"

Just to hear that, ponder that, to contemplate that...

The Son of God, God incarnate, that walked among men, a man Himself, yet still God in the flesh.  My eyes can't help but well up with tears to know there was One, just One, who sacrificed His life for me, for mine, for the entire human race, past, present and future.  He was the perfect sacrifice, no one else could do.

The One without sin, without reproach.  I am overwhelmed.  God loves us so much that He would manifest Himself through the One He called Beloved and Only Begotten Son!  He sacrificed His Only Son!  And His Son, Emmanuel, Yeshua, Redeemer and Prince of Peace, humbly, through great pain and suffering, willingly carried His own cross up to Calvary and laid His life down, for us.

To imagine, that this man, having done all this with me in mind, to imagine I will see Him face to face!  I can't comprehend it.  Oh, but my heart aches for Him and I can't understand it really.  What gratitude can one have, what sacrifice can I make, living or in death that can possibly convey what this truth means to me. There is none.

I have known You through Your Word, I have felt your presence, I know Your Spirit lives within me and I see the evidence of You throughout all of creation, yet I can barely comprehend You and of what I do, I am overwhelmed, beyond words.

I remember when I first heard Your voice and ever since, You've continued to draw me to You to call me to "Come away" with You.   You always want to be with me and me with You.  You comfort me, You calm my fears, You make a way for me!    You have always made Yourself known to me, and You reveal Your loving kindness without end, You reveal and confirm Your Word to me!  Your mercies are truly without end!  Through Your Spirit You've made me alive, You have given me life!.... but to think I will see You face to face.  I am undone by You, completely undone.  You crucify and sanctify me, You mold and make me!

You see and know every part of me, You refine me and are making me whole!  How grateful can I be! I can never satisfy the need to say "Thank You", the need to show my gratitude. No one can love me like You do!  No one!

All I can do is tremble and shed tears in Your presence, in Your holiness, Your righteousness, Your overwhelming love!

Oh to meet this man named Jesus.

Life giver and chain breaker, redeemer and righteous One!  You made a way for me, for us to be reconciled back to The Father! There are no words to convey this gratitude.  Help me show You with my life, my words, my thoughts and deeds!

The source of all life, peace and joy.  My comforter and friend!

What a day it will be, what a day - when the whole world sees You!  The truth of who You are, and what You have accomplished will not be denied!  The Lamb that was slain returning as our King! The longing in our hearts will be satisfied by You, the only One who can!

I want to see you Jesus, I want to see You!

Winter 2017

I didn't have to wait long before I got to experience a good snow here in Western NC.  This was taken December 8th, 2017.  Total accumulation ended up around 5 inches at my house which you can see below.  We're expected to get a couple more inches today and into tomorrow, off and on.
