Perpetuating Judgment - Resentment and Bitterness

I just feel like posting something I believe God is putting on my heart especially after seeing a post from a friend.  With social media today we are so quick to judge by simply reposting articles or news stories about this thing or that.  I can't tell you how many posts I have seen regarding what something someone did be it a business or an individual - sometimes these stories are true, but regardless of the perceived crime, many people just blindly repost (the equivalent of gossip in many cases).

Sometimes I see stories that are years old but they are still circulating on the net and with each new post a resurrected anger or resentment surfaces - when in reality the issue has been resolved, or the person has made good on their mistake or in some cases justice has already been served. Isn't that exactly what satan does?  Feeds us a lie or reminds us of something in the past just to keep the spirit of resentment, anger and hatred alive?   If we all had to relive our past mistakes daily, I am sure we would be much more discerning about what we decided to repost (without first trying to check the facts or the status of the story itself)... The one thing I see that we all fail to do, especially those of us who consider themselves followers of Christ, is that we fail to remember what Jesus did for us, for all those things we have done wrong, are doing wrong and will do wrong.  Its amazing how we forget that.

So many people perpetuate unforgiveness, resentment and bitterness  and many times the need for it is based on a lie or something that no longer is relevant.  I hear so many say "we forgive but we will never forget" or something along those lines (what purpose is there in remembering if we have forgiven?).. God says Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.  If we have forgiven someone for something then remembering the wrong done against us serves no purpose, unless we are saving it to use against them later... just like satan himself does...  Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.

I guess the point I am trying to make.. is if you perpetuate resentment and bitterness, and withhold forgiveness (and if you continue with spreading rumors, lies, and gossip then you are not forgiving...don't care how you put it...) then this scripture deserves a second look  (of course if you aren't a follower of Christ - more than a believer - then disregard this post)  Matthew 6:14-15 "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15"But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions."  This applies to everyone, including businesses... if you aren't forgiving, then you are promoting.

People do wrong all day, every day it should be no shock to either of us, we live in a fallen world, that was handed over to satan himself... but when we continue to focus on the sins of others, the crimes of others, the wrong doing and simply perpetuate the persecution of the same... then we are not serving God, or anything good.  We serve the one who was made ruler over this world and in essence are an enemy of God.

Its a hard lesson for me personally because I see all around me this kind of thing, I see so many evils in this world and people who actually love it.. live for it and literally wallow in it... its what drives them... but they rarely speak of the truth we know and have in Christ, rarely do I hear them say anything good about God or the forgiveness they themselves have received.  Its a hard lesson because I have been guilty of the same and may be again, I pray that I am not, but instead the Truth of who I am in Him and what He has done and does for me would prevail and that I would constantly live this scripture:  Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."
